Raindrop
Taylor Laubenstein
Grade 7
Now this may be hard to believe
But raindrops have feelings too
All the time people look out their window
And sigh
At the sight of the little bundles of water
Coming down in buckets
The whines of the people
“The day is ruined”
“It’s too wet to go outside”
“I wish the sun would come out”
Raindrops never get credit
For whatever good they do
They water our grass
And make the flowers bloom
But there is never a single thank you
Now I cannot even imagine
How the raindrops feel
To live with their work
Unappreciated
So last night it started to pour
It was late
So I would have liked nothing more
Than to go to sleep all comfy in my bed
But instead I went outside
Soaking wet I looked up at the sky
Streams of water splattering down my face
And I yelled to the little raindrops
“THANK YOU!”
After I yelled I could have sworn
That one raindrop yelled back
“YOU’RE WELCOME!”
With a splat
As he hit the ground
And that’s good enough for me
